Live Coding with Max/MSP is a solo performance in which the instrument does not exist when the performance begins. Starting from a blank patch in Max, projected for the audience, the performer builds it while playing it with his body through an IMU motion sensor. Writing and playing become a single act: each new object in the patch changes what a gesture can do, and each gesture tests what has just been written. Comments typed into the patch let the audience follow the reasoning as it unfolds. Like everything he performs, it is improvised, and the risk is part of the concept.
